Sometimes the hardest part of self-care isn't finding the time. It's overcoming the mom guilt we feel.
As Christian moms, many of us know we need rest. We know we need boundaries. We know we need to take care of ourselves. Yet the moment we try, we feel guilty.
We wonder if we're being selfish. We feel like we should be doing something else. We ignore our needs again.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I'm joined by Kisha "Coach K" Simmons, Certified Christian Counselor, Confidence Coach, and Soul Care Strategist, for a conversation about why so many Christian moms struggle with guilt when it comes to taking care of themselves.
We talked about where that guilt comes from, how it affects us emotionally and spiritually, and why caring for yourself is an important part of stewardship.
We discussed:
💜 Why Christian moms often feel guilty taking care of themselves.
💜 Where that guilt comes from and why it feels so strong.
💜 Why many moms struggle to separate who they are from what they do for others.
💜 Simple encouragement for moms who are learning to care for themselves without shame.
If you've ever felt bad for resting, setting boundaries, or making yourself a priority, this conversation will encourage you and remind you that taking care of yourself matters too.

Momma, who are you waiting for permission from? A lot of us have been going through motherhood and life waiting for someone to validate us before we fully step into who we are.
Waiting to speak up. Waiting to set boundaries. Waiting to do what God has already placed on our hearts.
And the truth is… that permission was never theirs to give.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m talking about what it really looks like to stop waiting for permission and start trusting your voice as a woman of God.
This message was inspired by something I heard recently from Real Talk Kim that confirmed what I’ve already been teaching and what many moms need to be reminded of.
I shared:
💜 Why boundaries are biblical and necessary in motherhood.
💜 What it looks like to trust your own voice as a mom.
💜 How waiting for permission can keep you stuck longer than necessary.
If you’ve been second-guessing yourself, holding back, or waiting for someone to approve what God has already placed in you… this episode is for you.
Momma, you don’t need permission to take care of yourself. You don’t need permission to grow. And you don’t need permission to walk in who God created you to be.

Mommas, sometimes we think rest is just about getting more sleep or taking a break. But what if true rest goes deeper than that? Because it does.
As Christian moms, many of us are carrying emotional weight, mental exhaustion, stress, worry, and things we were never meant to hold onto. We keep pushing through, trying to handle everything on our own, not realizing that real rest requires surrender.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m joined by LaTrae “Coach Tea” Wilson, Behavioral Health Coach and Christian Counselor, for a insightful conversation about what rest really means for Christian moms.
We talked about mental, emotional, and spiritual rest, how unresolved emotional struggles can affect our well-being, and why surrendering things to God is an important part of healing.
We touched on:
💜 Why rest is more than just physical.
💜 How emotional and mental exhaustion affects moms.
💜 The connection between healing and surrender.
💜 Encouragement for moms who feel emotionally overwhelmed.
If you’ve been feeling exhausted, mentally drained, or like you’ve been carrying too much on your own, this conversation is for you!
Enjoy and share it with a momma you love!

How Christian Moms Can Avoid Summer Burnout
May 20, 2026
May 20, 2026

Summer break can feel overwhelming for moms. The routines change, the kids are home more, the house gets louder, and suddenly you’re carrying even more emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
If you’re a Christian mom already feeling exhausted before summer officially begins, this episode is for you.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m talking about summer burnout for moms, the emotional weight many mothers carry during this season, and how to create a more peaceful summer intentionally instead of only surviving it. I also spoke about the story of Martha and Mary in the bible and why God doesn't want moms to serve their families from a place of exhaustion.
I shared:
💜 Why summer often exposes the overwhelm moms have already been carrying.
💜 How many Christian moms connect their worth to constantly doing for others.
💜 Practical questions to help you create a calmer, more peaceful summer.
💜 The importance of boundaries, breathing room, and protecting your peace as a mom.
💜 Why your children benefit from a rested and emotionally present mother.
If you’ve been feeling emotionally drained, overwhelmed, overstimulated, or anxious about summer break, let this episode remind you that your peace matters too.
I also created a special experience for Christian moms called Martha to Mary Summer Reset happening at the beginning of June. If you’re tired of carrying everything on your shoulders and you want support creating a more peaceful, intentional summer, I would love for you to join us.

As moms, it’s easy to put ourselves on the back burner when it comes to food and taking care of our health.
If you’re a Christian mom struggling with guilt around food or trying to create healthier eating habits without extra stress or perfection, this conversation will encourage you.
Have you ever felt like taking care of your health has to be all or nothing? Like if you can’t do everything perfectly, there’s no point in trying?
So many moms struggle with guilt around food, inconsistency, and trying to care for themselves while taking care of everyone else.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m joined by Brandice Lardner, nutrition coach, personal trainer, and founder of Grace Filled Plate, to talk about food freedom for Christian moms. We’re talking about creating healthy eating habits, grace-filled nutrition, and what it looks like to care for yourself in a consistent way relying on God to help you instead of trying to do it on your own.
We talked about:
💜 What food freedom really means.
💜 Why moms struggle with guilt around food.
💜 How to build healthy habits realistically.
💜 Encouragement for moms who are tired of the all-or-nothing mindset.

After watching the Michael Jackson movie this weekend, I found myself thinking about more than just the music. It had me reflecting on legacy, purpose, and what it really looks like to break free and become who God created you to be. Beyond the stage lights, there was a profound story of Michael navigating the tension between external expectations and following his internal voice.
As I watched his story on screen again (Having seen The Jacksons: An American Dream), I couldn't help but see the parallels in our own lives. How many of us are living a legacy that was handed to us through traditions rather than one we’ve chosen? How many of us are still waiting for permission to finally break free?
In today’s episode, I’m sharing four life lessons I took away from the Michael biopic:
*The Power of a Mother’s Words: Why letting your light shine is a non-negotiable responsibility.
*The Courage to Break Free: Navigating the painful but necessary process of stepping out from under family expectations and shadows.
*The Power of Affirmations: How Michael used the power of the tongue to shape his reality (and how you can too).
*Living Out Your Purpose: Realizing that your impact is directly tied to your willingness to be your most authentic self.
Whether you’ve been a fan for decades or just love a story of transformation, this episode is a call to look at the 'Man in the Mirror' and decide who you’re truly meant to be. It’s time to stop doing for everyone else and start being who God called you to be too!
Listen in and share with someone who needs to be encouraged!

Sometimes the hardest part of motherhood isn’t what’s on your to-do list. It’s learning how to care for yourself when your life or your body starts to change.
As moms, we’re used to showing up, pushing through, and doing what needs to be done for our children. But when you go through unexpected seasons, whether it’s a health challenge, an injury, or changes in your body (like perimenopause), it can affect you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually in ways you didn’t expect.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m joined by Kim Hardy, a speaker, author, and mental health life coach, who shares her personal journey through life transitions, including her experience with injury and perimenopause.
We’re having a candid conversation about what it looks like to care for yourself in seasons that don’t feel familiar… and how to give yourself grace as you navigate them.
You’ll hear:
💜 How life transitions can impact your emotional and mental health.💜 What it looks like to care for yourself when your body is changing.💜 The importance of giving yourself grace in difficult seasons.💜 Encouragement for moms who feel like things don’t look or feel the same.
This conversation will remind you that even in seasons of change, you are still worthy of care, attention, and support.

Motherhood can make you feel like you have to be everything for everyone.
As a Christian mom, you may find yourself trying to meet every need, carry every responsibility, and show up in every way. Over time, that expectation can become your normal, even when it leaves you feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m sharing three scriptures that remind us of something many moms need to hear:
You don’t have to be everything.
These bible verses speak to how God leads you in motherhood, how He designed you with a specific role, and who you are truly called to live for.
It’s about releasing expectations that were never yours to carry and returning to what God is actually asking of you.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
💜 How God gently leads you in motherhood.💜 Why you were never meant to do everything.💜 The truth about people pleasing in motherhood.
If you’ve been trying to hold everything together or feeling like you have to be everything for everyone, this episode will encourage you and remind you of what God says about your role as a mom.

Setting boundaries as a mom can feel uncomfortable… especially when you’re used to showing up for everyone else.
You want to be present and supportive. But at some point, constantly saying yes starts to affect your peace.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m joined by Rashatta Daugett, a faith-driven leader, speaker, and mentor who helps women live with intention while honoring their capacity.
We’re talking about what it really looks like to set boundaries as a Christian mom and why protecting your peace is not something you should feel bad about.
You’ll hear:
💜 Why so many moms struggle with setting boundaries.💜 How constantly showing up for others can lead to burnout.💜 What boundaries can look like in your everyday life.💜 How to protect your peace while still honoring God and your family.
This conversation will remind you that you don’t have to do everything to be a good mom and setting boundaries is holy.

I just got back from the Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship retreat and I’m still thinking about it. Being around so many fellow sisters in Christ, the singing, the great speakers, and my hotel stay. It was awesome.
But there was one message that really stayed with me. It came from Micah 7:8 and the reminder was simple: Falling does not finish you.
As Christian moms, it’s easy to feel like when we fall back into old habits, when we get tired or when we don’t follow through the way we planned… it means something about us or that we aren't growing.
In this episode of The Mom Self-Care Podcast, I’m sharing a little about the retreat and the takeaway that I believe so many of us need right now.
Momma, you’re not finished. God is still working in you.
💜 You’ll be encouraged to:
• Stop letting one moment define you.
• See your growth differently.
• Get back up without carrying shame.
I hope this blesses you!
